Many hybrids in film or mythology are seen as scary, however hybrids are also used in cartoons and films for children in Disney.
Ariel is a human hybrid because her upper body is a beautiful young girl and her lower half is a fish, making her a mermaid. There are many other mermaids in Ariel, including her father and friends. The evil character is Ursula and she is a hybrid between a fat old woman and a octopus.
